From New York to Japan: A Creative Journey

Help Us Build a Creative Business and New Life in Japan
We’re a couple of New York-raised, Florida-based creatives — a licensed massage therapist and game designer (Jove) and a visual artist and storyteller (Glo)— working together to bring a lifelong dream to reality: building a unique creative business and life in Japan.
We share a deep passion for Japanese culture, art, and community. Over the past few years, we’ve been learning the language, studying the market, and refining a clear vision: to launch a hybrid business in Japan combining an arcade, creative lounge, and indie game studio. Our long-term goal is to serve locals and expats with an artistic hub that brings people together through games, wellness, and immersive design — all while creating economic value and local jobs.
Why We Need Your Help
Moving to Japan and setting up a business as foreigners is a complex process — but we have a plan.
Your contributions will directly help us take the first critical steps toward making this dream a reality. Here’s how the funds will be used, step-by-step:
Step 1: Tourist/Language School Visa Phase (Short-Term Relocation)
• Purpose: Scout potential locations, build local relationships, and deepen our fluency and cultural understanding.
• Cost Breakdown: Travel, housing, daily expenses, language school tuition, business networking.
Step 2: Startup Visa Phase (6-12 Month Business Planning Period)
• Purpose: Work with a local city or government partner to develop a full business plan and establish legal presence in Japan.
• What This Gets Us: Support from the Japanese government, access to funding/grants, and time to prepare for full-scale launch.
• Funds Go Toward: Legal setup, registering our business entity, preparing our space, early-stage marketing.
Step 3: Business Manager Visa (Full Launch)
• Purpose: Operate fully in Japan as legal residents and business owners.
• Goal: Secure a permanent location, hire staff, and begin generating revenue through a mix of arcade entry fees, game sales, merch, and events.
Throughout this journey, we’ll document our experience on YouTube — transparently sharing the ups and downs, the work behind the scenes, and the impact of your support.
If you’re someone who believes in creative independence, small business, or simply loves the idea of seeing two dreamers make something beautiful in a new country — we’d be incredibly grateful for your contribution.
No donation is too small. Even sharing our story means the world.
Let’s build something extraordinary — together.
