Selfless. Honorable. Kind-hearted. Protective. Justifiably loved by the community. This is Khiry as described by those who have the pleasure of calling him Brother. His self-effacing dedication to change and the well-being of his contemporaries has set "The Real Khiry" aside as a consummate leader in the grassroots political field in Phoenix, Arizona. This beloved musician-turned-activist has, without hesitation, placed the goals and concerns of the cause above his own personal well-being. And it is for these reasons we are reaching out to our support base for assistance.
Khiry was apprehended by The Phoenix Police during a recent demonstration which saw multiple colleagues corralled; aggressively arrested for protesting against police brutality and systemic bias against the Black Community. As of the time of this writing, he is still incarcerated and in need of legal services.
Anyone who has marched alongside with Khiry, witnessed his altruistic deeds during community outreach events, or caught one of his many interviews would recognize his subconscious dedication to diplomacy. Still, this activist his seen himself targeted for harassment by the PPD on several occasions, culminating with his second targeted arrest this past Sunday.
Given the increasingly aggressive incarcerate tactics of the Police in order to break our resources and force a dismantling of our movement, we are turning to outside assistance to help assist in Khiry's growing legal fees. The system recognizes a powerful leader of the community and seeks to detrimentally impact his life. Here is where we come to our Brother's aid.
We are looking to reach a goal of $10,000 to cover Khiry's lawyer expenses. This will relieve some of the legal pressure bearing down on our brother and help ensure his absolute freedom is granted once again. We are looking to meet this deadline in a week's time in order to expedite the process of getting The Real Khiry out the system and back within the comfort of his own home.
Please donate and spread the word. Our lead demonstrators put their lives in harms way long after protests dissipate for the evening. So, a few dollars goes a long way. When we say "touch one, touch all!" -- it's also for moments like this. We are stronger together.
