Freddy's Medical Bills Funds Drive

Hi my name is Freddy. I am 6½ years old but I like to think I’m 7! I’m in 1st grade and although I love being in school, I haven’t been able to attend for the better part of this year.

2 weeks ago, I was admitted at Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital and on July 7th, 2016 I was diagnosed with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia). My doctor told me that it’s a relatively rare form of blood disease that interferes with the production of my normal and healthy blood cells. It sounded too complicated and scary, but she was also quick to assure me that due to my young age, early detection and immediate specialized treatment, I have a very good chance of survival...I was encouraged to hear that and I’m ready to #FightTheGoodFight!

The treatment plan is a scary, intense and long process. I promise to be strong and do what the doctors and my parents say but I need all the help I can get from you. Please Pray, Support and Fight with me because that will make it much easier for me knowing that I have everyone cheering and supporting me out there.

---This is my daddy, mommy and I---

My daddy and mommy are James and Florence Muigai Njenga; they are the greatest parents ever! As you can imagine, they are utterly devastated. I’m not sure what’s going on but I can tell they’re sad and scared. My family has been on my side all along and they pray for me often. They’ve really given me the best life. I also have a big extended family, awesome neighbors and community/village that love me. For this reason I want to get well soon so mommy and daddy can be happy again, I can get to go back to school and resume playing with my friends again.

Although I’m a little too young to read or write very well, or even understand what’s really going on, my awesome uncles, Moses (Oklahoma), Joel (Houston, Texas) and Tom (Kenya) helped me write this message to you. My immediate and extended family have been very loving and supportive.

---My cousins Vanessa, Calvin and I---

My favorite thing to do is playing in the yard with my cousins Vanessa, Calvin and my very best friend Lucas from across the street. Getting "dirty" is our specialty although mommy doesn’t like it much! I also enjoy playing games on daddy's phone and watching cartoons when I’m not out playing soccer or riding my bike. I have a lot of cousins all over the world and I love to talk/skype with them every chance I get...one day I'll be strong enough to go visit them all. My favorite food is chips (French fries) and sausage. I love fruits too and I pretend to like my veggies because it makes my mommy happy when I eat them!

I understand that I have a long road ahead of me with my treatment and long term care. I will have weeks of chemotherapy and occasional blood transfusions which means I'll be in the hospital for a while. The doctors and nurses here are great and they always find ways to make me smile.

I started my first round of chemo treatment on Wednesday July 14th and that started week 1, day #1 of many more to come. I’ve had 5 chemo treatments so far and although they make me very tired, nauseous and weak, I'm doing my best to hang in there.

---Getting ready for Chemo round #1---

I know this will be tough on me but most of all I’m worried about my mommy and daddy. I hope they can still smile through all this, I need them to smile, I want them to be happy and I hope they can be strong. I really don’t know what’s going on and why...I just want to be well, go home and I need for my parents to be happy again. I love them so much and I know they love me more. My grandmas and grandpa visit me all the time. I know they’re also sad and very worried although they don’t show it. They’re very strong in their Faith and keep telling me that I’m already healed and that I just don't know it yet.

I write this to ask for your help to give me a fighting chance at this beautiful life. Please Pray for me to be strong, please Love on my parents and give them a shoulder to cry on, tell them jokes to make them smile and call/text or leave them a comment here to assure them  they're not in this alone.

I'd like my mommy and daddy to know how blessed and grateful I am for bringing me into this world to be a part of their lives. There's no other place I'd rather be...I love them from here to the moon!

Love,
Freddy

As family, we ask you to join us in helping Freddy fight this disease. Freddy and his parents cannot fight this battle alone but if we all join hands, they surely can!

The road ahead for them is unimaginable. Your donations, however big or small, are greatly appreciated and will be used exclusively for Freddy's Medical Expenses and Care. This will help with Freddy’s already escalating and ongoing medical bills as he fights this battle against Leukemia. We will keep you posted every step of the way.

Freddy is a sweet, smart, funny and amazing little boy who is destined to a great life ahead. Our brother James and his wife are wonderful parents and deserve all the support we can give them as they concentrate on being at Freddy’s side.

This campaign means so much to us given that this is our brother's only child.  We have an opportunity to make a huge difference in their lives, by giving Freddy a fighting chance.

We thank everyone that has been thinking and praying for Freddy, everyone that has stopped by the hospital to see him and everyone that has given generously so far. In addition to your prayers and financial support, please help us spread the word to your families, friends and your church so they can put him on their prayer lists.

Thank you for your generous donations and support.
