HELP FRED STARR BEAT MYELOMA!
Donation protected
Hi I am Judie Starr and I am creating this go fund me page to help my dad Fred Starr.
My dad has been in chronic pain for many years that doctors have just chalked up to old age. It wasn't until he was hospitalized because his kidneys randomly shut down last month that he was FINALLY diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called Multiple Myloma but at this point he is already advanced to stage 3.
Multiple Myeloma attacks the marrow in the bones causing lesions, tumors, brittle bones, breaks, fractures and incredibly painful searing pains that radiate down his spine, hips, and arms making it nearly impossible to walk. He is undergoing extensive Kidney treatments as well as Chemo to try and save or at the very least extend his life.
At 68 my dad is still self employed as a farrier (horse shoer) and on medicaid and SSI. He has been shoeing for over 50 years and is one of the hardest working people I know. He has been fighting heart disease for my entire life and even after multiple heart surgeries and hospitalizations he has continued to work as hard as he can regardless of how hard his body needs a break. However, this latest set back will be more than his body can indure without taking time off. Aside from the stress of the huge financial strain his biggest fear is loosing his tiny farm he has worked so hard to keep the past 20 yrs while he is fighting for his life.
He is a dedicated father and grandfather who would give the shirt off his back to anyone that needed it, no questions asked. He believes in working hard for what you need and it is very humbling for him to have to ask for help but in this case he has no other choice.
I can't imagine life without my dad. His laugh, the way his eyes crinkle when he smiles, his big booming voice, or the way his cheecks are always scratchy when he hugs you from his permanent 5 oclock shadow LOL. He is and always will be my biggest supporter, fan, and cheerleader in life. Growing up he tought me the importance of working hard, taking pride in my responsibilities, and to always stand strong for what I believe in.
I want my 7 month old son Owen to grow up with real memories of his grandpa rather than just stories. I've always imagnined my kids growing up enjoying holidays on our farm, playing in the same fields I grew up in, feeding cows, chasing sheep, and learning how to ride. To be tickled and teased by my dad, go fishing and trail riding like I did growing up, learn how to be a real cowboy and benefit from all he has to teach them.
I know times are tough for everyone and no one likes to be hassled for money but every dollar adds up and this is a really great cause. Even if you can only show support by giving $1.00 or just sharing this fund it would be so appreciated by all of us.
---- All funds will go directly to treatment and recovery.
