Help me fund a Benoit System and regain independence

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Frankie, I am 28 years old, I'm a freelance writer, paradancer, actor and spoken word artist. I'm also not very good at succinct (the writer in me always wants to tell the fullest story) so I'll try my best to write this shorter appeal, and if you want to know more details, I can post a full appeal below.

What you need to know about me is that I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS), a genetic disorder that affects the quality of my collagen. Collagen is like the glue of the human body. Because of my EDS I regularly dislocate (and partially dislocate- sublux) joints, have organ prolapses, my GI system is too slow and in parts paralysed or 'disorganised', I live in constant pain, and have weak blood vessels leading to a condition called POTS. Between the EDS and my POTS (a condition which affects my body's ability to pump blood up to my brain when I stand- or sit for long periods- which in turn causes tachycardia, and can lead to me fainting) I need to use a wheelchair. I have a great manual wheelchair which would suit my needs perfectly if not for one thing: I cannot self propel my 'self propelled' chair.

I need help funding a power assist device which can propel and steer my chair, as my shoulders are too unstable to propel myself on most surfaces, especially outdoors, and my POTS means I get tachycardic and exhausted much quicker than most people- this is called exercise intolerance. The power assist is called the Benoit system, and it can not only propel my chair but also steer it with a joystick, leaving my other hand free to train my dog, text, or simply hold someone's hand whilst 'walking' with them.

Whilst the money from this page will go into my bank account, every penny of it will be going towards the Benoit. I have secured a grant for just about half of the cost, but I still need to pay just over £2300 towards it. Unfortunately, being disabled is expensive!

I don't necessarily expect to raise £1000, but every penny or pound donated takes a little bit of pressure off of me and the financial burden of freedom; without this power assist, I don't have a lot of freedom with my chair. I don't have the independence a 28 year old should have, and am largely housebound. I need people to push me in my wheelchair, which means I'm heavily relying on others and am unable to continue any outdoor training with my assistance dog in training (ADiT), Teddy. With the combination of the Benoit, my manual chair, and Teddy, I should be able to regain the freedom that EDS has taken from me over the last 8 years.

Please, give what you can, and if you can't, sharing this post will reach more people who may be able to afford to donate £2, £5, maybe even £10. If I go over my fundraising goal, I will continue to use up to £2300 for the benoit system, and any additional money will go directly towards Teddy's training. I will post updates about both the benoit system and Teddy's training as this fundraiser goes along. But amything you can give, or sharing the link would be so appreciated.

For whatever you give, or however you share, thank you in advance,

-Frankie, (the one who can't write succinctly to save their life!)
