Hey friends, strangers, and fellow survivors of Craigslist nightmares,
I’m raising funds after experiencing a real-life “WTF just happened?” moment that turned my last month of a lease into an episode of Law & Order: Roommate Victims Unit.
In short: my roommate and her intoxicated guests burglarized me—over $3,000 worth of my belongings vanished. NYPD has opened a grand larceny (Class D felony) case. But because it’s my first 29 days on the lease (talk about timing!), I have no tenant rights and cannot live there due to unsafe conditions.
Here’s the kicker: I found out after the break-in that she’s done this before—three times. Yes, this is her thing. And yes, a mutual friend vouched for her but failed to mention her history… or mental health background… until it was too late.
Now I’m left without essentials, stability, or a solid sense of trust—but I do still have my sense of humor.
I’m asking for your help to recover what was stolen and afford a safe transition into a new space. Your support will help me replace items, cover unexpected moving costs, and find some peace after this chaos.
And yes—I’ll be turning this saga into stand-up comedy, because that’s the only way I know how to heal.
Thank you for reading, sharing, or donating—even a dollar helps. And if you’ve ever had a crazy roommate story, feel free to share. Misery loves comedy.
With gratitude (and sarcasm),
