My name is Robert Williams and I'm from Cleveland, Ohio. Since graduating from college in 2009, I've been working in education in low-income urban communities in Cleveland for 12 years as an Administrator. I have a proven track record of helping improve the academic achievement and student culture of all of the campuses that I was a part of throughout those years. This track record of improvement of academics includes reading and math interventions, short cycle assessments and quarterly diagnostic testing. The improvement of student culture includes, teacher retention, student attendance, helping graduate over 150 high school students in 3 years and in increase in academic performance and the successful implementation of the Positive Behavior Intervention Support Systems at the elementary and high school level.
Therefore, I would like to create a children's book about my life growing up in foster care and being adopted. More than 16,000 children are part of Ohio’s foster care system. Almost 4,000 Cuyahoga County children are in foster care. That is 16% of all Ohio foster children.
It is my hope to share my foster care and adoption story to children throughout Northeast Ohio to help provide support through active engagement, understanding, literacy and rapport. The goal is to provide my book series to area schools in Cleveland for children who have been through the adoption and foster care experience. This project is for non-profit and solely for supportive and educational purposes for children.
