On the very early morning of Friday, Nov 29th, 2019 my god-mother Diana Lashley, tragically and very unexpectedly lost 2 loves of her life, one of them being her best friend & husband Walter Lashley with whom she was happily with and devoted to for the last 27 years. Walter was amongst his friends and family returning from a Thanksgiving family gathering in Columbia, SC when tragedy struck after they ran out of gas and was hit by oncoming traffic while trying to make his way to the nearest gas station on foot. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident.
Walter was Diana’s soulmate in so many different ways, and one of those ways was how much their spirits complimented and matched each other in the nature of being the most genuine, caring, kindest souls one could ever be so lucky to have encountered. The two of them together are well known to help people who weren't in a situation where they could help themselves, oftentimes, not only taking in and helping people but oftentimes, even stray animals when they, too, had nowhere else to go and just needed a loving home. Walter’s death, along with the 2nd person my god mother lost in this tragedy (whom she greatly loved as well) is definitely one that have left people wondering how can such horrific things happen to such good-hearted people? However, despite the pain, devastation, and anguish the loss of Walter has caused to all of us, we still give all glory to God.
Diana and her family will need a lot of love and support to be poured out onto them now and in the months to come. With all of the emotional pain and stress that death brings, it also brings financial burdens. Please help me in trying to raise money for Diana and her grieving family, in honor of her husband, to help with any costs that will incur, to include funeral expenses as well as whatever else is needed. It is in these times of loss and sadness that people come together to help one another, but that has ALWAYS been Diana & Walter and their entire family as a whole. That nature of selflessly giving and helping was always present within them, so it is my hope that in creating this fundraiser campaign, that my God-mother Diana can now be shown the love and support that she has always given to so many around her and even those that weren't. And in the event you are not able to contribute financially, that's okay too. I just ask that you please share this with as many as you can and maybe show support in other ways such as a meal train, going by to walk her dogs, praying with her or maybe just giving her a hug - if you are someone who has been blessed to know her personally, as I have been.
We are so, so thankful for any support you may be able to provide. God bless you all and remember to hold your loved ones close and a little bit longer as tomorrow is never promised.
