For the housing and care of Terra Bergeron

Donation protected
From John Bergeron, her husband - "Terra Bergeron has cerebellar ataxia, a brain disease that was inherited from her mother, who passed away from the disease in 2014 at the age of 64. The disease affects motor functions and cognition as well. There’s no cure, and it will eventually take her life. We had some misfortune in May when a backed-up sewer pipe flooded the inside of our home. They had to rip up the flooring, cabinets, and drywall. This placed us in a hotel. While in the hotel, around the first week or two, Terra was acting strangely. She was falling, unable to walk to the bathroom with her walker, and soon was unable to get out of bed. I took her to the doctor, and they immediately took her to the hospital where they found she had an acute urinary tract infection. They advised that this can cause issues, including brain issues. This, on top of her current condition, made things worse. Once they treated her with antibiotics, I took her back to the hotel where she was on a week’s regimen of medicine. But she still seemed to be declining. I took her back to her doctor, and he placed her in the hospital where she underwent an MRI, CT scan, and multiple blood tests, but I was never given any prognosis. She then was sent to a rehabilitation facility where she is now until she will be discharged due to a 21-day limit to be there. I am now trying to get her into a long-term facility, but if they take her, the insurance will still require her/us to pay the $165.00 a day copay. We’re hoping the house will be back together soon so we can bring her home and care for her there. I believe she will thrive at home and hopefully get better. Once we can get her home, a walk in tub will also be needed to properly care for her. Any little bit helps, and we truly appreciate anyone taking the time to read about her situation and help us is this time of need."
