Hi, my name is Karla and I’ve created this GoFundMe on behalf of my mom Lupita who has a growth/ lesion on the right side of her tongue. She was enduring the pain until we went to the ear nose and throat doctor who suggested that she needed to get biopsy done because one look at the lesion and he was worried it might be cancer. It wasn’t the first time hearing this though, because other people including my aunt who is a nurse also had taken a look at the tongue lesion and suggested that it might be cancer and needed to get that checked out. At last on June 13th was when we went to get her biopsies done and the doctor gave us the results on June the 21st, unfortunately the results confirmed that she in fact had cancer and that it was called Invasive keratinizing squamous cell carcinoma. The primary reason I created this goFundMe was because the only solution for the doctor was that she needed to have surgery and remove her tongue but there has got to be another solution and my mother’s primary doctor referred her to the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston,Tx. She explained that over at MD Anderson the doctors there have more experience and could maybe offer other solutions or treatments rather than just taking her tongue out completely. This is where we want to ask you all for your help in funding my mom’s journey to recovery. She is known by many people and the one’s who have had the honor to truly get to know her know that she is a strong independent woman with a heart of gold and that she will go to the extent of taking the clothes off her back just so she could help anybody in need. My brother and I love her very much and and do not want her to feel defeated by this little hiccup that has been placed in her life.
