5/21 Update:
Hi Everyone,
Thank you for your kindness and generosity. Losing Minna has been the most challenging experience of my life, but the support from friends, family, and even strangers has been a huge comfort.
Your donation has not only helped ease the financial burden but has also provided emotional comfort knowing that so many people care. Minna was a remarkable person, and I know she would have been touched by the outpouring of love and support we have received.
Penelope and I are doing well. Penelope is 2 and a half years old with the attitude of a teenager. She is back at daycare and loves playing with her friends there. She is always the first to finish her lunch (including a second serving) and get back to play time. We are ramping up for potty training, so wish us luck!
With the support from friends, family and especially my mom and Minna's mom, I have returned to work and we have started to figure out what our new normal will be.
Thank you again for standing by us and for your generosity. Your thoughtfulness and compassion have made a world of difference in our journey of grief and healing.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Penelope and Charles Feng
12/2 Update:
Minna passed away in her sleep on 12/2. It gives us some peace to know she passed without pain. Sadly, she missed her daughter Penelope's 2-year birthday by 5 days.
Her husband Charles, his family, and her family are in the process of working out the details of her memorial and funeral and we will provide an update when those details are confirmed. Thank you all for your support - it is much appreciated by Minna’s family.

Our friend Minna was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer about 6 months ago. After several rounds of braving chemotherapy and radiation treatments, her condition continues to decline and doctors believe she only has 1-3 months to live. She is 43 years young and will leave behind her beautiful daughter, Penelope (“Penny”), who will turn two in December, and her loving husband Charles.
Before Minna’s diagnosis she was an accomplished lawyer who loved wine, food, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. But the one thing Minna wanted most was a partner and a family of her own. Several years ago she met the love of her life, Charles, and they were engaged in less than a year of dating. They were so excited to plan their wedding and start their lives together when Covid-19 hit and they had to cancel their wedding plans. Minna and Charles didn’t let a global pandemic keep them from getting married and they got married via a zoom courthouse meeting. Soon after getting married, Minna found out that she was pregnant and received the greatest gift in her life, her daughter Penelope. Minna was so happy and excited to build a life together with her family. Unfortunately, life had other plans for Minna when she went to see the doctor about severe chest pain in the spring. After an x-ray found tumors in her lungs, a biopsy confirmed she had stage four lung cancer. This was a complete shock for everyone as she is not a smoker and relatively young. By the time she discovered the cancer, it had spread to her bones and organs, and has continued to spread aggressively despite multiple rounds of radiation and chemo.
Her husband, Charles, is preparing for her end of life and trying to make Minna as comfortable as possible before she passes. The goal of this page is to help alleviate some of the stress associated with medical care, funeral costs, and managing childcare while preparing for this tragic transition in their lives. Any amount that you can donate would be helpful to her family. Thank you so much for your consideration and support.
