Florence Northchase Recovery

When Hurricane Florence hit North Carolina this September, the Northchase community in Wilmington was hit particularly hard.  In this neighborhood of 950 homes, approximately 120 homes were affected by unprecedented floodwaters, forcing residents to evacuate and leaving the homes uninhabitable and all contents destroyed.  This area is not in a flood zone so most homeowners did not have flood insurance, and FEMA funds barely scratch the surface of what is needed to rebuild their homes.  

The affected residents are our neighbors - people from all walks of life.  Young families, retired people on fixed incomes, and everyone in between.   Neighbors have been coming together to volunteer their time helping with the initial cleanup as well as donating food, clothing, and whatever else is needed.  We want to see all of our neighbors rebuild their homes, but we need help to achieve that goal.
