Flood Disaster Assistance for Llanas Family

Donation protected
On Monday, January 9, 2023, the Llanas family lost their home due to flooding. Multiple atmospheric rivers created extended periods of heavy rainfall. River, creeks, and the nearby damn were at capacity and overflowed into Lovers Lane. While ensuring the safety of their child and pets, the family was given 15 minutes to evacuate their home and grab just a few essential items. Within this time three feet of water flooded their home, vehicles, and destroyed some of their livestock. The conditions of their family home are unhabitable and essentially have left the family HOMELESS.

With limited time to pack up their belongings and three dogs, the water rose so rapidly that the loaded vehicle would not start. With their dogs trapped inside the car, they had to abandon the vehicle to make it out in time.

This disaster and housing displacement create added hardships due to having a child with severe physical and mental disabilities to manage while navigating the complex process of getting back on their feet.

While the Llanas have flood insurance coverage that only covers a portion of their home being rebuilt. The state of California is in a state of emergency, however, the County of San Benito where the Llanas family lives has not been approved for FEMA funds.

We are asking for your financial support to help get the Llanas family back on their feet. Any donation no matter how big or small will be greatly appreciated and have an everlasting impact. All donations will be used for short-term housing, boarding fees for their livestock, rebuilding their home, and replacing personal belongings.

Additionally, we ask that you keep this beautiful Llanas family in your prayers during this difficult journey.

Thank you.

Update 1/18/2023: Over the weekend with excessive rainstorms the Llanas home was flooded again twice. This has added to the damage of their home.

They are still searching for a temporary home for their family and their dogs, while they are boarding their livestock.

They have applied for FEMA and are waiting for the assessment to be completed, which will take some time.

Please continue to keep this family in your prayers. The family is overwhelmingly grateful for everyone that has donated to their need and kept them in their prayers. This is a very difficult time for them.
