I am Cindy Holm and I am the co-founder and Director of Flip Side. My husband, Gregg and I founded Flip Side to give animals a voice. Starting with our first goat Milton( the real Founder) to our latest rescue duck, Patrick. Each and every animal in our care has a story to share and our mission is to be their voice, share their stories and help change hearts and minds in how we see farmed animals.Flip Side will be relocating to the east coast.
We privately bought property for Flip Side in Tabor City, North Carolina and there are many reasons why. The property we were buying here has become undesirable for a sanctuary. With recent laws in California, we are being surrounded by agricultural grows and feel this is not a safe or appropriate environment, first and foremost, for the animals, but also for us, volunteers and future visitors.
The property also received so much damage from the rains last year and this year, the road is still not drivable and we have concluded that the terrain is just too steep to safely house everyone. We were looking for other properties in the area, but the prices are way too high and we would rather not have to worry about such a large monthly burden and put all of our focus on the animals.
There was a family emergency that took us back to the east coast in Myrtle Beach this summer. I started looking around and realized there were no sanctuaries anywhere around the large tourist area. I knew we could make a much larger impact in that area, as there are so many sanctuaries in the Northern California area popping up all around us. We found a property with 16 acres in North Carolina, ( which is one of the largest pig factory farming states in the country),only 25 minutes from North Myrtle Beach, SC. We will be in a great location to have a lot more visitors, events and educate more people.
We will be taking all the residents. It will be a long process to prepare but we feel it is the best thing for all of us. The move will hopefully take place by the end of the year. We know this is the best way to continue our mission and make a greater impact for the animals. We have the property but now we need your help.
We need to put up fencing and build housing so the animals can get there. We also need to get appropriate transportation for the animals to get to the new location as safely and quickly as possible. We are hoping to get there by the end of the year.
I am asking you personally, whether you know us, follow us, love our animals, or just found out about us to please donate if you can. Help on our journey to a better world where we can continue to grow , help save more lives and give the lives in our care, a safer and more comfortable life. Thank you so much for your support!
All donations are tax deductable.
Whew! It took a lot longer than expected but...We have had about half of our residents in NC for the past 5 months and they are loving the new location. We have already rescued 30 animals in NC and have adopted 3 to wonderful homes.
Gregg will be coming in the next few weeks with the remaining goats and will really start getting to work on the fencing. We need a lot of fencing! We eventually will have all 16 acres fenced so all of the animals will have adequate room. We will be doing all of the labor ourselves on all houses and fencing to save all of those costs so all of your donations will be going to supplies and the animals directly. WE ARE 100% VOLUNTEER RUN.
