Flaming Lego Lizards to FIRST World Championship

Hello!
We are the Flaming Lego Lizards and we do First Lego League (FLL). FLL is a STEM sport where the participants build a LEGO EV3 Mindstorms robot and program it to complete missions, like pushing and pulling various objects. Teams also have to research, design, share, and hopefully implement a solution to a problem in their community. Teams have to do this while remembering the Core Values, like discovery, respect, and Gracious Professionalism (compete like crazy against the problem, but be kind and helpful to other teams).
In December we won both the Champions Award and top Robot Game score at our local qualifier, so we got to move on to Regionals. At Regionals, we won the Champions Award so we get to move onto the Worlds Festival, with teams from every continent except Antarctica. However, because Worlds is in another state, and spans across a few days, we need money to be able to participate.

The money would go towards hotel rooms, travel expenses, and keeping our team awesome! Our goal is to raise $8,500 by April 3, 2020. Most of the funds will go towards hotel rooms and travel, which are really important in order to participate!

From our Coach:
”I coach the FLL team “The Flaming Lego Lizards”. They are a neighborhood robotics team comprised of five 7th grade young women that meet right here in Waldo. They have been developing a concept for a crowdsourcing app to improve local parks (“Fixing Local Landscapes”). They also designed and programmed a LEGO robot to complete challenges and compete in a robot game.
You can learn more about the program here: https://www.kcfirst.org/first-lego-league/
They competed in a qualifier in the fall, and our team qualified to advance to the Regional Championship which was held January 25th at HyVee arena! (https://www.kshb.com/news/local-news/first-lego-league-holds-regional-championship-at-hy-vee-arena) They amazed and surprised us all by qualifying to represent the Greater Kansas City Region at the World Championship in Houston in April! I couldn’t be more proud of their hard work and determination!

The estimated team cost of attending the World Championship in Houston is $8000-10,000!!!”
