**There are now updates & new photos - please see**
2 year old Finn, the mini husky, was at the dog park as usual having the time of his life being a dog, when he was attacked (April 1st @5pm -ish) by a vicious golden-beige Pitbull.
The attack went on for approx 30 seconds to 1 min. The owner of the pitbull grabbed his dog and ran to his vehicle and fled the dog park, before Finn was ever carefully lifted off the ground. Therefore we have no current information on or about the pitbull owner (unknown name).
Finn suffered 2 broken bones in his left front leg, a puncture wound in his right front leg armpit and major bruising on his left back thigh. ( Finn got 2 titanium plates, stapled closed )
The option was either amputate or save his leg. Based on cost. To save his leg will cost just under $7600. (updated cost post-op is $7,960)
The funds will go towards Finns vet bill to the orthopedic surgeon.
Finn is currently in the Boundary Bay Veterinary Specialty Hospital in Langley, BC. He will be there for 2-5 days. ( After 2 and a half days Finn gets to be released to go home the evening of April 3rd, depending on infection or not)
Finn is the most loved dog at the dog park, maybe you'd even say dog famous. EVERYONE loves him, hes friendly, good with kids, happy, spunky, spends hours in the dog park, has many doggy friends and plays well with others, and most importantly he is a loyal canine & loved very very much.
Finn loves to frequent Canadian Tire to shop around. He loves to go to the Dog Park. He shops at Mr.Pets & Petsmart. And Finn also loves to visit all the people who work at Abbotsford Dodge. Most of those now he wont be able to do for quite sometime.
Would be beyond grateful for the generosity for any help towards this unexpected very expensive dog surgery, without the help Finn could lose his leg.
Thank you in advance for your love and support.
UPDATE:
Surgeon was able to SAVE Finns Leg! He has 2 titanium rods & stapled closed.
New cost is now higher, at $7960.
Gets released from hospital the evening of Apr 3.
Once Finn is home he is required to be in a crate/kennel for 2 months.
Many post-op appointments during the next few months.
Approx 6 months of recovery, and more for rehabilitation.
Will be about a year until Finn can be back to his old self.
We now have a file started with Animal Control.
We have obtained a photo of the dog owner, and possible vehicle, but not the dog (thanks to help of other dog owners). We have passed along this newly obtained info.
(If the dog owner happens to see this page, please do the right thing and reach out, take care of the vet bill for my father)
Will give another update, and will add more photos of Finn post-op.
