In the summer of 2010 a fierce and loving girl married a charming and cheerful boy. Not long after that they had tiny little blessing named Kivrin, and not long after that Kivrin got a beautiful baby sister called Marlowe.
Now, with all their dreams and hopes in tow this fantastic family is hoping to buy a house. A beautiful little house with a view of Lake Superior and just enough room for a garden.
Well their wish has come true, and the offer they made on the home has been accepted, but there's a hitch in the plan. They were approved for an RD loan, but due to a bunch of technicalities and jargon they no longer qualify. So now this determined little family must go for an FHA loan which requires a down payment of $2600.
This is the family of Ben & Ella Filipowicz, and they are some of the best people in the world. They are the sort of people who would be much more likely to proffer help to others than to accept it when they are in need. But they are in need, and those of us who are lucky enough to claim their friendship are learning by their example and stepping up to help.
I am their friend; Emma Couling. I wish I had the ability to float into Ben & Ella's lives like a Fairy Godmother and make all their wishes come true. Alas; I am a product of my generation and I have no savings. But being a millenial isn't all bad: it means I know my way around the internet, and more importantly, it means I am familiar with the process of Crowdfunding.
