Fiji Cyclone Yasa Community Fund
Donation protected
On the evening of Thursday 17th December 2020, tropical cyclone Yasa, a category 5 storm, tore across the northern island of Vanua Levu, Fiji, causing widespread devastation. I was born in Labasa, Vanua Levu. We have family, friends and community members that have been affected there. Homes have been severely damaged, animals perished, belongings have been water damaged. These homes need to be rebuilt and belongings replaced/restored. Some of you have been asking to help. Here is an opportunity. Together with my friend, Jean Hutchison Tikaram, who experienced this during cyclone Winston which caused havoc in the Western Division of Viti Levu in 2016, we have decided to help families and the community by providing resources including material to rebuild their homes. We would really appreciate your support. God bless you as you give and pray for these heart-broken families! Thank you!
1. Who are we - Sharon Singh & Jean Hutchison Tikaram
2. Where are we from - I am a Fijian living in Brisbane, Australia and Jean lives in Rakiraki, Fiji.
3. Our relationship to the recipients – Fijian friends, family and community members.
4. How the funds will be spent - After needs have been assessed by Jean and I, donations will be used to help purchase supplies for identified families and their community to rebuild. Please read regular updates posted on this page.
5. How will I get the funds to those in need - Funds are going to be withdrawn into my bank account as I meet all of GoFundMe's requirements. Then, I will be transferring funds from my bank account to Jean’s bank in Fiji. She will then use it to purchase supplies and distribute it to the community. Updates with pics/or videos will be uploaded to show the progress.
Thank you so much for your support!
