Note from mom:
Aria got a fever of 103 one night. We took her to an urgent care they told us she had the flu gave us meds said it should go away in a couple of days. A week passed and she still had the fever if she didn’t get her meds right on time, so we took her back. Another night when she got really bad they sent us to an emergency room saying she shouldn’t still have the fever they took x-rays and labs but didn’t want to poke her the doctor there said she has a cold sent us home that didn’t sit right. I took her to her pediatrician, which I wish I had just done from the beginning, He ordered his own tests saying it’s not a cold and it’s not the flu and he was very confused, so she got more x-rays blood test everything. The next day we got a call from him saying she had dangerously low white and red blood cells and she needs to be admitted to a hospital right away. We rushed her to the hospital praying for something, that’s not what me and my family have fought before. July 31 is when this nightmare started, we waited for her counts to go up and nothing was working. 3 days in they moved us to the 7th floor which is the oncology floor. That is when we met her primary doctor and she explained to us everything they were going to do to see if my baby had leukemia. They started her on steroids and gave her a blood transfusion that helped her red blood cells, but her white count didn’t change. They planned a bone marrow biopsy this is when they stick big needles in her hip bones to get the cells they need but there were complications her doctor said it was so thick she couldn’t get any from her front hips so she went through the back and got it .Thank God right there and then she was able to look to see if she has leukemia cells and unfortunately she did. My husband and I were heartbroken that this was happening to our baby. After telling us her amazing doctor went and made a road map of what the next 2 and a half years battle my baby is going to fight august 5th the day she got her first chemo treat my baby has (ALL) acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
