Thank you for joining us in the fight to help Sheena get the necessary treatment she needs to conquer Lyme disease.
You look at Sheena, and at first glance you see a beautiful, effervescent blonde girl with seemingly no care in the world. Why does anyone need to fight for this girl? Girls like this get all the advantages, right? You may not even know Sheena....
This is Sheena and I. We have been best friends since childhood. And I know many things about her not obvious in the top, main picture of her. First, her kindness, love, and compassion. Then, her amazing musical talents and all the people she has touched. But the other thing you don’t see in the picture is late-stage Lyme disease.
What is Lyme disease? Most of you know it as the thing that you get from ticks, but that’s about it. That’s all I knew. It doesn’t get the coverage that cancer gets, there have been no ice bucket challenges, but if not treated within weeks of the tick bite, it can become a severe degenerative ailment. I have seen the way that it has affected my friend. She was bitten by a tick years ago when we were growing up in the California Foothills. Since then, the disease has progressed, at first unnoticed. But over the past seven years, I have seen a vivacious, determined woman worn down by her disease. Still, Sheena has not let her suffering keep her from being the compassionate, kind, and selfless human being I have always loved. The energy and attention she gives to others has hidden the effects of her disease from most; they have not seen how Lyme disease has affected her work, friendships, relationships, and self-esteem. But I have seen how Sheena has silently struggled to keep sharing all the gifts she has with the world. She has silently struggled to keep her disease from burdening others, and now it is our turn to repay Sheena.
When Lyme disease first affected her, it completely depleted her of her strength. No one knew what was happening to her. She was extremely weak. She vomited everything she was eating. She had debilitating stomach aches, fainting spells, and pain all over her body, to the point that she feared for her life. She would have episodes during her lessons where she would pass out…once behind the wheel of her car while driving on the Los Angeles I5 freeway. She has had seizures; one that I was next to her during, having to run and call an ambulance. Another where she fell down the stairs.
Severe tendonitis in her hands kept her from playing the piano and violin. After a series of misdiagnoses and ineffective treatments, she was finally diagnosed with late-stage Lyme’s disease in 2013. Since then she has seen many Lyme specialists and has exhausted every possible form of treatment, ranging from long-term antibiotics, countless supplements, IV therapy, Chinese medicine, naturopaths, hyperbaric chambers, frequency machines, and every type of “healing” diet. Still holding a smile during her treatment for the seizures she has as a consequence of Lyme's Disease:
What Sheena needs is to be sent for treatment to Sunridge Medical. Sunridge Medical Lobby
Sunridge Medical is a pioneering medical facility located in Scottsdale, Arizona, providing the most advanced, research-based alternative medical treatments to patients with severe illnesses. In particular, Sunridge’s physicians are experts in late-stage Chronic Lyme Disease. Using the most advanced diagnostics along with a thorough evaluation of the patient’s illness, their approach to treatment has achieved repeated success. My detailed research over the past year has convinced me that THIS is the best treatment for Sheena. I have personally interviewed patients from Sunridge who were close to dying when they got there, and they described this place as nothing short of miraculous. They left after one month of treatment, feeling “cured,” “brought back to life,” completely “normal” again.
Learn more about Sunridge on their website: http://www.sunridgemedical.com/ Testimonial from a patient with Lyme Disease after attending Sunridge Medical:
Now Sunridge ain’t cheap, folks. That 30K is steep, but that’s the price of the full 30-day treatment she needs at this late stage of her disease. While She doesn't know of this fundraiser, she has spoken about Sunridge and her dreams of going into treatment there for years. As an aspiring musician, she struggles financially as it is, and she could never afford it. If we can’t get her the full thirty days, any days will do: maybe a seed of hope is all I can hope for. But I will take anything. Literally ANYTHING you can offer will help. If you can’t help financially, please share and encourage someone else to!
This is the time to step up and Fight for Sheena. This is a person worth fighting for. The world needs her. She gives and gives, and I am looking for a way to give back. Her dream is to be a professional composer. She is well on her way there. She has the talent, but she needs the health.
Thank you for helping fight for Sheena, the friend we love, the person who dedicates herself to making the world a better place, and all the music that she could give us … and that we may never hear.
