Sol Keys is just 30 years old. He is adventurous, kind-hearted, full of life, and deeply loved by his family and friends. He has so much more living to do, so many places to see, and so many memories left to make.
In July 2026, our world was turned upside down when Sol was diagnosed with H3K27-altered diffuse midline glioma, an extremely rare and aggressive form of brain cancer. This devastating diagnosis came less than a year after our family tragically lost Sol’s beloved brother, Beau. The thought of facing another unimaginable loss is heartbreaking. But despite everything, Sol continues to fight, and we are doing absolutely everything in our power to fight alongside him.
A New Hope: ONC201 Since his diagnosis, Sol has undergone radiation treatment, and we have been desperately searching for treatment options that could give him more time. We have now managed to access ONC201, a treatment developed for this rare type of brain cancer. Sol has recently taken his fourth dose, and incredibly, we are already seeing encouraging improvements.
While we know there are no guarantees, these changes have given our family renewed hope. Unfortunately, despite our efforts to access the medication through compassionate pathways in Australia, we are still having to import it privately from Germany. The cost is an overwhelming $3,500 every single week. That’s more than $180,000 a year just to maintain access to this one medication. No family should have to face the possibility of losing access to a potentially life-extending treatment because of money. Our Next Fight: CAR-T Cell Therapy
While continuing ONC201, we are now also pursuing another promising avenue: CAR-T cell therapy. CAR-T is an innovative form of immunotherapy that uses specially modified immune cells to recognise and attack cancer cells. Researchers are investigating its potential for aggressive brain cancers like Sol’s. Although this treatment is still experimental and access is extremely limited, we are determined to explore every opportunity available to him. This may involve international specialists, clinical trials, travel and significant additional expenses. We don’t know what the future holds, but we do know that we aren’t ready to stop searching for options. How Your Donation Helps
