Fencing for Foster Dogs: A Safe Space for Healing & Play

Donation protected
Hi,

My name is Kate. I’ve donated to GoFundMe campaigns over the years, but this is my first time creating one. Honestly, I feel a bit conflicted about making a GoFundMe, when there are so many worthy causes out there and so much need. But I’m reminding myself that we all give in different ways, and one of my ways is fostering and rehabilitating rescue dogs.

So many people say to me, “I don’t know how you foster, it would break my heart”. And it does. Sometimes it breaks my heart. But our hearts are so much stronger than we think. And love is not finite. We have so much of it to give. And so do they. These dogs have SO MUCH LOVE to give, even with all they’ve been through. And they deserve a chance to live. And love. ❤️

Over the years, I’ve helped care for dogs who’ve come from all kinds of backgrounds—some abused, some neglected, some slated for euthanasia. If you know me, you know this isn’t a new passion. I’ve bottled fed week old orphaned Irish Wolfhounds back to good health, I’ve worked at animal hospitals, volunteered with the York Region OSPCA & rescues, and almost every animal I’ve ever homed, has been a rescue in one way or another.

Right now, I’m trying to raise funds to dog-proof an outdoor area at my home. The goal is to build a fenced, secure space where foster dogs can be off-leash outdoors—free to move, run, play, and begin to heal.

I have the space, the time, the experience & heart for rescue/fostering. I just need a little help with the funding

Many dogs arrive anxious and uncertain. This kind of space would allow them to build confidence, get basic training, and just be dogs again—safe, cared for and supported. Long-term, I dream of adding a shaded gazebo area for adoption meet-and-greets too, but for now, the fencing is the focus.

The project would involve purchasing and professionally installing farm wire fencing—something strong, secure, and durable enough to keep dogs safe. Any funds raised will go directly toward the materials and installation.

So here’s the ask:
If you’re able to give anything, from $5-$500… every dollar could help move this dream forward. Or if you’re a fencing contractor with supplies or time to donate—please reach out!

With your help, I can create a space that gives rescue dogs the freedom, healing, and love they deserve.

Thank you so much for reading and supporting this work.
