Birthday Pottery PreSale Kiln Fundraiser
Donation protected
UPDATE: My original goal of $1200 was just met. I'm literally crying. My heart is so full. But I have had several of you mention that you would like to to give, and with the incentive of getting a piece of pottery as a gift in return, who am I to deny you the opportunity!? So I have increased my goal, and anything above the cost of the kiln will go to purchase glazes and clay to actually make the pieces. I am amazed and in awe of my friends' generosity. Thank you so much. Please fill out the form linked below to let me know what kind of piece you'd like <3
Thank you for visiting my Birthday Pre-Sale & Kiln Fundraiser!
I have recently been presented with an opportunity to buy a used (though well-cared-for) kiln, for nearly 1/3 the cost of a new one, from my amazing Ceramics Professor, Frank Phillips , in the next week. And since my 42nd birthday is May 14th, I thought I might just go for it...
As I've been unemployed during quarantine, I have had time to work the wheel in my living room & reflect on my love of this medium. I have really enjoyed making my first Instagram and Face Book Live videos. It was actually a stretch for me, in connecting and inviting acquaintances "into my home" to watch and comment on my process.
Of all my life-long creative endeavors (visual art, poetry, acting, comedy... what am I missing?!), my recent foray into pottery has enchanted me and fed my soul like nothing else. It has taught me that failure is an opportunity, mistakes can be beautiful choices, and that the joy is in the process. Creating something that someone else might enjoy is simply an enormous bonus. While it would have been beneficial to have learned this earlier in my creative development, pottery & ceramics is what made it stick in my whole body, and not just be an intellectual thing that made sense in my brain.
So, I decided to see if you all would want to support me in buying my first kiln! The kiln is going for $1000. I got a quote from a mover for $150 for 2 guys and a truck (it's over 200lbs). And the additional $50 covers the fees from GoFundMe.
Of course, all gift amounts are gratefully received. But I would also like to offer my appreciation in the form of donation-based commissioned pieces!
$30: I'll make you an original mug or small pot
$50: I'll make you an original medium sized bowl or plate
$60: You can choose between 2 mugs/ 2 small pots or a combination of both
$100: Your choice of one large piece, or three smaller pieces
It will take some time to create all the pieces, get the kiln up and running smoothly, and purchase glazes. So it would be a few months before I could get them to you. You are welcome to choose something similar to what I've already made, or your own idea, or something new and yet to be imagined.
Please CLICK ON THIS FORM if you would like an original piece for your contribution <3
If you would like to into the fund and not receive a ceramics piece, that is also appreciated!
So many feelings and things... simply because you read this far...
Love & Gratitude,
Fedje
