On September 7th my brother Federico Mantaras was involved in a paragliding accident, flying as a passenger in a tandem ParaTrike in La Cumbre, Argentina.
Although a certified tandem pilot himself, this time his fate was in someone else’s hands.
Unfortunately due to the impact Fede suffered severe damage to both his brain and spinal chord. After battling through surgery and various infections he is at a stage where he can finally start a long and costly process of rehabilitation. The specialists say he would have to undergo such process for at least one and a half years, and although uncertainty is still at play as to what the outcome may be I believe we all deserve a chance in life!
He is currently on a waiting list to start his treatment in the Rita Bianchi Clinic which specialises in neurological trauma.
Unfortunately he is not covered for such treatment for which I am stretching out and asking for your help!
The total estimate right now for his treatment is $90.000, it feels like a massive goal but I hope that with all the kind hearts in the paragliding community and beyond I can manage to raise such funds to give my brother the best chance of a full recovery!
