Family home & 3 furry friends lost to Fire
Donation protected

It was an electrical fire, I think it started in the Attic. I saw arching coming out of the wall setting my furniture on fire. I quickly thought to turn the power off at the breaker box. Everything goes dark. By this time everyone in the house was alerted to what was happening.
I am so proud of everyone because they were quick to think on their feet they were fearless and did not panic. Although their efforts failed to put out the fire, their courage made me proud to share the experience with some Badasses who were quick to respond with concern for everyone in the home and concern for other nearby structures, including the neighbors home. When the fire department arrived, my husband quickly turned his water hose to the neighbors and started soaking their home to prevent the fire from spreading to their house.
We had 3 dogs which were all tragically lost. When everything filled up with thick smoke, the dogs retreated deeper into the home and would not come when called. It quickly became difficult to breathe. We lost our home of 35 years in 8 minutes. Gone. Total loss. Four casualties, including one cat, and two cats are unaccounted for, still missing.
Amongst the charred ruble I managed to salvage an old fire insurance contract dated in 2018. It was letter to my parents informing them why the insurance company was NOT going to renew their fire insurance policy. The reason stated was that the home failed to be updated to code and therefore did not qualify for insurance.
Now, here we are. Now I must do something I have never done. I must reach out and ask for help from the community. This is more difficult for me to do than it is to accept the loss of my home I grew up in. Please forgive my childish pride and hubris. I just feel lost and overwhelmed. But then I remind myself that humans are extraordinary beings and my friends kicked ass that day, so we will honor our beloved so they do not parish in vain. I thank all for their sacrifices and promise to create a home with those blessings.
I think first we will raise funds for a large travel trailer so we don't have to worry about putting 7 displaced adults in hotels until we can replace our home.
We are doing the cleanup ourselves to cut back on costs. We might have some friends with a bulldozer that can help us once we arrive at the demolition part of the process.
Then I will update everyone with an itemized list of costs to rebuild. Also, we are considering alternative sustainable living materials and open to suggestions about new discovered technology on sustainable living and recommendations on worthy contractors.
Please, if it is possible to help us, and does not add hardship, and does not require you to go out of your way, there are several ways you can help other than donating money. Donations of supplies, materials, finger foods, your time and neurons are also welcomed and needed.
Thanks a million and May the Force be with You.
