First, thank you for taking the time out of your busy lives to read my family’s story. Your kindness and compassion mean the world to us.
My name is Kaline Courchaine, and my husband, Dustin, and I have been married since 2022. We’re proud parents of four wonderful kids—a girl and three boys, aged 9, 6, 2, and 1. Unfortunately, our family is going through an incredibly difficult time.
Last year, we lost our apartment, and since then, we’ve been homeless. While we know this is no one’s fault but our own, it has been a heartbreaking journey. Our two oldest children are staying with their grandparents to ensure they can continue school, and we’re forever grateful for their support. I miss them deeply, and being separated from them is incredibly hard. They visit us on weekends when we can find a place to stay together.
Right now, my husband, our two youngest kids, and I are living in our car. At the beginning of the month, we try to pay for hotels, but with rising costs, it’s just not possible. We’re both actively looking for jobs, but being homeless makes it challenging to get back on our feet.
This past year has tested me in ways I never imagined. We’ve had offers to stay with others, but those situations quickly became toxic and harmful. Despite these struggles, I’ve tried to stay strong for my kids, but the cold weather has been tough on them. They’re starting to catch colds, and as a mom, it breaks my heart to see them sleep in a van during these cold nights.
I’m asking for your help to raise $700–$800 to cover hotel costs, including deposits and fees, so my babies can sleep in a warm bed. Your support will provide them with safety, warmth, and a little relief during this tough time.
