Friends and Family, I am reaching out to you to ask you to help our teaching assistant and her family. The entire family contracted the Corona Virus and has suffered terribly both emotionally and financially because of it. Both parents have been hospitalized and put on ventilators.Her father is home and still recovering, too weak to even stand on his own. Her mother is still in the hospital fighting for her life on a ventilator. She has been in the hospital for nearly a month now. At this time her body is producing CO2 and the doctors have said there is nothing left that they can do for her. They are hoping that her CO2 level will go down on its own. No one in the family is able to work because they are all still recovering and cannot risk bringing the virus back into their home. They will need help covering their hospital bills as well as help with getting food on the table.
Our TA's name is Maite and she has been a saving grace in our classrooms and even when we moved to distance learning when the schools were shut down, she would be there on our zoom classrooms helping out. She is one of the kindest and most sincere people and it is heartbreaking to see her and her family going through this. They are a very close knit family and helping to take care of each other at home while they recover. However, the financial stress is weighing on them immensely, and as you know stress is hard on the immune system. We realize so many people are struggling during this difficult time but anything you could give to help will be greatly appreciated and alleviate so much stress for this loving and caring family. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
