My dad was the kind of man who never looked the other way when someone needed help.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, a proud husband, father, grandfather, brother, and a friend to so many. If you knew him you knew his heart. He believed deeply in doing the right thing, even when it was hard. He was the guy who would show up when you needed help moving, fixing something, or simply someone to stand beside you.
On the night of February 28, my dad and mom heard two women screaming for help. Without hesitation he stepped in to defend them from a group of attackers.
That moment says everything about who my dad was.
He didn’t ask questions.
He didn’t walk away.
He protected people who needed help.
My dad fought with incredible strength afterward, surrounded by his family and loved ones. Sadly, on March 8 he passed away...
His loss has left an unimaginable hole in the lives of those who loved him most. My mom has been by his side through everything and is now facing not only the heartbreak of losing her husband, but also the financial burden that comes with such a sudden tragedy.
My dad spent his life helping others without hesitation. He lived his life protecting and helping others. In his final act, he did exactly that.
My dad will always be remembered as what he truly was:
A protector.
A veteran.
A family man.
A hero.
If you are unable to donate, you can still help. Sharing Tom’s story helps more people learn about the kind of man he was and gives others the opportunity to support my family. One share can make a bigger difference than you might realize.
