Faith's gap year in The Philippines
Donation protected
I am graduating in June and taking a gap year. I have been given the opportunity to go on an amazing learning and volunteer journey to the Philippines this summer to serve as a volunteer at Faith Academy for a year. My journey to the Philippines will not only positively affect my life, but I hope also the people I am helping. This experience will give me the opportunity to grow in my faith with God. During my time in the Philippines I will be volunteering as an assistant coach for soccer, helping in PE class, art class, and anywhere else they need me to help.
I will be staying with friends of my Uncle Russ and Aunt Etta’s, and will volunteer on weekdays. Because of Visa restrictions, I won’t be able to work while I am volunteering, so I am working--I am doing bake sales, pet sitting, baby sitting and working as a child care assistant to the coordinator to learn the skills I need and to prepare. "Although I am working myself to earn as much money as I can ahead of time, I will need additional sponsors to help reach my goal of five thousand four hundred dollars. This should cover my expenses for the year I am there...I would love to have lots of prayer support as well.
While living in Egypt this past year, I have made friends from many countries and they have taught me about many diverse African cultures: Sudanese, South African, Nigerian, Ethiopian, and Egyptian. I am looking forward to making new friends and experiencing a different culture.
