Support Mom of 4 who's been tragically burned in Fire

Hello, my name is LaChae I'm a single MOM of 4 beautiful girls which includes a set of twins aged from the range of 4 to 13. I am a hard-working mom employed within the DCPCS school system & also a Cosmetologist part-time. On February 20th, 2024, at approximately 7 pm my life drastically changed within a split second. My children and I have a daily routine of coming home and taking 30 minutes to decompress.

However, on this particular night, I was extremely exhausted from the draining day I had which threw me completely off and I just wanted the night to be over. I entered my home the kids put their things away and I headed straight for the kitchen (purse and coat still on). I started preparing dinner, washing dishes, and then turned the grease on to warm it. after I quickly headed upstairs to change my clothes to get more comfortable.

In the midst of me changing MOM BRAIN kicked in and I began to clean up the mess that the children and I caused that morning forgetting the grease was on downstairs. Moments later the children burst into my room screaming "MOMMY FIRE FIRE". I have a 3 story townhome and I thank God I keep a fire extinguisher on each level.

I grabbed the one that was close to me and quickly ran downstairs. Once getting downstairs I noticed that the fire was manageable and small however fires of any sort are extreme, especially to children. I grabbed the pot and the flames went out however I did not notice grease was dripping from the bottom which caused the fire to reignite.

My children were screaming and panicking, which caused me to become very STARTLED. I attempted to put the pot in the sink, but before I could let the pot go, the grease exploded and splashed all over my entire right arm from my shoulder, chest, stomach, thighs, back, and buttocks. My skin began to turn grey and looked like a melted plastic bag. My 13-year-old was smart and brave enough to call 911, I immediately tried to console my children even though I was in excruciating pain and in a panic myself. The EMTs arrived very quickly which felt like forever to me. Due to the severity of the burns I was treated with 200mc's of Fentol. I was extremely scared because of all of the harsh stories we hear about people overdosing, all I could think about was staying alive for the sack of my girls. The paramedics took me to the Burn Unit of Washington HSPTL Center.

I spent 3 in a half weeks in the hospital where I learned I survived second and third-degree burns. I also had to undergo 2 surgeries which included a cell grafting surgery and also lazor treatment due to my arm becoming infected which caused my arm to heal improperly.

Being burned is an indescribable pain, and to watch my children scream and cry for me was torture. I'm making this go-fund me because this tragic injury has caused a financial hardship crisis for my daughters and I. Due to me being hospitalized for over 3 weeks and being a single mom who was living paycheck to paycheck with some bills already in the rear on top of my benefits ending May 2, 2024 and not being able to return to work any time soon has all been extremely overwhelming and has spiraled out of control.

I am an Alpha woman who prides herself on being very independent, headstrong, and so used to getting the job done no matter what, It's very tough and humbling to ask for help as I am an extremely private person on top of the embarrassment I felt about my situation and asking for help. However, my heart is heavy and I'm choosing to speak up and out, asking for prayers and financial assistance. Please know that whatever you decide to do my girls and I will be extremely grateful whether it's Monetary, sharing my story, or a prayer.
