FIGHT FOR BRETT WILLIS
Donation protected
Recently, my son Brett Willis, was diagnosed with Stage 3 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. This diagnosis came as a shock to all of us and has already made a huge impact on our lives.
It started out in September as just a lot of pain and discomfort. He made a few visits to some doctors and received diagnoses such as acid reflux and Mono. Unfortunately, the pain continued to worsen until finally, he couldn’t handle it and made another trip to the emergency room. That day just happened to fall on the day of his sister-in-law’s wedding, where he was a groomsman. To keep from ruining the wedding, he suffered through the pain all day long until the wedding was over and then he went to the ER, where they told him that they had found enlarged lymph nodes in his stomach that may be a form of cancer called lymphoma and needed to see a specialist as soon as possible.
This is just one of the many examples that show how Brett always puts others before himself. He has proven this to those around him time and time again in the way he cares for his wife and children. Even through all of the tests and surgeries that he has already endured, he is still worried about how his diagnosis affects everyone else more than how it will affect him. Since Brett has always taken care of everyone else, it is our turn to take care of him and his family so that they all can focus on getting him healthy again.
The outlook is good and the whole family is looking forward to getting past this, but there is still a long road ahead. The doctors expect at least six to eight months of treatment before he will be healthy enough to slowly return to his normal life. During this time, assistance is needed to sustain the family. During this process, the focus should be on treatment and recovery, not bills and medical expenses. The family appreciates anything you can give, whether it consists of monetary donations, other services and assistance, or simply your thoughts and prayers.
Brett is strong and ready to fight and he has a lot of love and support to back him up. He will come out of this even stronger, and when he does, he hopes to be a part of the buddy program for Lymphoma patients and help others with the same diagnosis by answering questions and offering support just as he is currently receiving.
As Brett continues his journey to recovery, we will provide updates on him and the family. Thank you all for your love and support.
