The Cruzeiro do Céu State School (EECC), located in the Vila Céu do Mapiá community in the heart of the Amazon (Pauini - AM), is an educational institution that dates back to its informal founding in 1986. Officially integrated into the state education network of Amazonas in 2001, EECC offers classes from Elementary to High School, as well as Youth and Adult Education (EJA), operating in the morning, afternoon, and evening shifts. It currently serves around 150 students, including children, teenagers, young adults, and adults.

Guided by a Political-Pedagogical Plan that values integration with local practices and sustainable development, EECC has sought to provide diverse learning opportunities and extracurricular activities despite facing significant challenges in financial, material, and human resources due to low government investment—particularly in this region filled with unique difficulties.

In its ongoing pursuit of excellence and comprehensive student support, the school has launched the project “Horizon of Knowledge” (Horizonte do Saber), a strategic initiative aimed at extending educational services beyond regular class hours, with a focus on expanding cultural and practical horizons. Through a range of activities—including academic support, tutoring, educational projects aligned with Amazonian realities, diverse workshops, and the promotion of healthy, conscious nutrition—the project seeks to provide full-time education for a large portion of students. The goal is to create a safe and stimulating environment where students can strengthen their knowledge, explore new skills, and receive personalized pedagogical support, directly contributing to reducing school dropout rates and improving learning outcomes within the community.
