If you know me, you know Nala. She has been by my side at everything since high school. From college parties to cross country flights and everything in between. The love I have for this dog is something that really is indescribable. It's almost an insult to call her a dog. If you know us, you understand this. Nala is a human and my best friend. She's a part of my heart and my soul and at one point was my reason for getting up in the morning. She has helped me through the most difficult time in my life and now it is my turn to help her through hers.
This journey began about two years ago with her first "spell" that sent her to the hospital. She began vomitting and had severe GI issues including bowel movements of just bloody puddles. She was dehydrated and could not keep anything inside of her. After $3,000 in tests, there was still no diagnosis and her little body seemed to just fight through it and she got better. After that spell she seemed to develop major allergies, constantly itching and rash that again, we had a hard time explaining. Two more spells later, I took her in and insisted the re-do a pancreatitis test and it came back positive which seemed to explain a lot of her issues. So, I studied and prepared myself for a long fight ahead with a really tricky disease. Foods that didn't contain Poultry and less that 10% fat. You would think there would be one, but I have spent hours online and in pet stores literally reading every single product in the store and there was one option, canned. So, we started on Fresh Frozen$ Just food for Dogs. Some symptoms got better. But, her breathing continues to be labored and her stomach bloated. I took her to the ER May 10,2021 and she had fluid in every cavity inside her body. Her heart, her stomach, everywhere. They also confirmed she is battling heart disease as well. The first estimate of every thing was $4,000. I asked what the most necessary treatments were and we are starting with draining the fluids and sending them for testing for $1,300.
This is going to be a fight because this little dog has a lot of life and love left in her and she is not ready to give up. I am certainly not giving up. Her care and the constant blood work monitoring her conditions as well as these crisis flare ups are extremely draining on Nala, Myself, and our life savings. Please consider helping us to get the rest of her current crisis treatment as well as a fund for future emergencies that come with her conditions.
