Everleigh recently had major surgery for limb lengthening due to Fibular Hemimelia and is now undergoing intensive rehab at Nemours in Wilmington. What we thought would be a shorter stay has turned into an unexpected approximate month-long commitment, two hours away from home. We originally had surgery on March 16 going home on March 20th. Everleigh was rocking out doing amazing, becoming more independent, until April 2nd she was re-admitted to Nemours for extreme pain to the point you could not touch. We took the ambulance right all the way north to Nemours, and finally on April 13th we were ”discharged” to begin intensive rehab outpatient full days at the hospital. She is currently wheelchair-bound most of the time due to pan while also using a walker at times and requires daily care, so I’ve had to stay here with her full time. Because of this, I’ve also been out of work unpaid, and we’re now trying to manage the cost of living away from home while focusing on her recovery.

We are doing everything we can to stay strong for her, but the reality is that expenses are adding up quickly—things like daily meals, gas and transportation, basic necessities during this extended stay, and rooming accommodations. Your support will help us cover these costs and allow me to continue being by her side without worrying about how we’re going to manage everyday expenses.
