“And Mona, please feel free to say no. I bought her a green ice axe on my way back from Denali as I knew she wanted to climb after giving birth.” Omar Samra’s voice echoed through the speaker. My eyes filled with silent tears. He did not have to elaborate. “How could I say no Omar? Thank you for trusting me with something so precious” were the only words I could utter as tears rolled down my cheeks.
A drop in the ocean. Microscopic in size yet massive in heart. A ripple effect that ever so eloquently and gently shakes the world. A world that sometimes echos “You can’t. You won’t. No one will support you.”
Marwa Fayed, a friend, a sister, a climber, a mover and shaker, a beautiful soul who left us too soon. Yet, being the amazing person she is, made sure she continues to bring smiles and laughter to the hearts of many children. Children who have been stripped naked from everything.
She founded Marwa Fayed’s Toy Run (MFTR). From humble beginnings to becoming “an advocate and patron of youth empowerment.”
300 Children. 365 Days. 365 Promising Futures. This is our pledge.
“MFTR is on a mission to empower 300 underprivileged children in Egypt for the 365 days of 2019 with knowledge through edutainment. The children are ready for change, and their programs are ready to be deployed.
Over the past five years, MFTR’s work with underprivileged and vulnerable children has allowed the organization to fully understand what their lives are like. What these children need is more than literacy. They need skills, behaviors, and thinking methods that will prepare them to be global citizens and change agents in their communities.”
Hop on our wagon of hope and giving and together, let us gently shake the world.
$500 a year/child That’s $41 a month/child And only $1.36 a day/child
Whether it’s $500 or $1, every penny counts. Let us forget them not, for an education is a basic right.
