It is with a heavy heart that we share the devastating news that Evan Mahan passed away on September 23rd, 2021, only 12 days after sustaining a traumatic brain injury from a fall on September 12th, 2021. Unfortunately the impact of the fall was so severe that it left Evan in a coma fighting for his life. Evan was  rushed to the hospital and had to undergo emergency surgery removing 25% of his skull to allow room for swelling and drainage of the blood sitting on his brain. After the surgery Evan still remained in critical condition, on a ventilator, with many surgeries to come. The Neurosurgeon informed the family that the fall had caused unrepairable damage to Evan’s brain stem and cerebral cortex which allows your body to function, causing limited brain function. Evan fought for his life with everything he had in him until the very end.

Evan was 35 years young. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, nephew and friend. If you were lucky enough to know him, you were much better for it. I know that when someone dies, they were always the “best” person and that singing their accolades are what we do when we lose a loved one, but Evan’s passing is truly one of epic proportions. You will be hard pressed to know a better human being. Evan was one of the kindest men I know who would help anyone without hesitation and give the shirt off of his back. He was funny, sarcastic and had a smile that was unforgettable. We are all so incredibly heart broken, and the void this family is experiencing is beyond description. With Evan’s passing comes unexpected financial burden. All funds earned will be given directly to the family as a contribution towards medical expenses, funeral expenses and memorial.
