Hi, I'm Steve, co-founder of Ethiclear, the ethical house clearance company.

While working for another provider of property clearance services, I found that I loved the work, but was horrified by the number of reusable items that end up in the tip..

This inspired me to team up with Woodie and create Ethiclear, so that we can go that bit further, reducing emissions and eliminating as much waste as possible.

We use an electric vehicle (EV) to provide zero emission waste transfer.

We have informal partnerships with several local charities, which we take regular donations of tools, furniture, clothes, kitchenware etc. to.

We hand sort at our own depot to separate wood, metal, cardboard etc. to make sure everything possible is recycled correctly.

Everyone knows the first year or two are the hardest for any business, and we are no exception.

We have been hit by several setbacks, such as the deposit for our EV doubling, our eligibility for an EV subsidy evaporating, and new regulations for Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) vastly increasing the cost of legally disposing of things that can't be reused.

Over the last six months or so we have donated several van loads of furniture, tools, kitchenware, small electricals etc. to local charities and directly to people in need in our community.

We now hold occasional sales events at our depot, follow us on Facebook to keep up to date and find out when to pick up an absolute bargain, or even a freebie!

We are relaunching the fundraising bid as we are approaching readiness to relocate to more appropriate premises so that we can open to the public on a daily basis.
