Ethan's Fight

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Brendan Gilmore. I live in Miami, Florida with my mother Anette, my older sister Nicole, and 14 year old brother Ethan. September of last year Ethan was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a form of cancer in the bones. For a year now we have been battling this disease tirelessly. Ethan has done countless chemos and has had multiple operations including the removal and replacement of the patella and partial replacement of the tibia and femur, removal of multiple nodules in both lungs, and also partial removal and replacement of the humerus. Through it all we remained strong knowing that god was on our side. Less than one month ago the doctors  said he was 100% cancer free. We were finally able to rest, Ethan was enrolled in school and started his first week as a high school freshman and things started to fall back into place. Ethan was overjoyed to finally feel like a normal kid and do normal things. It was at this time that we started to notice a bump on Ethan's hip. We stayed positive as one leg was longer than the other due to his growth spurt from his major leg surgery. Ethan had been going to school and exercising more than he ever had before. Unfortunately, 2 weeks after Ethan was cleared my mother receives a call from the oncologists saying that they had mixed up the scans and that the cancer was actually back and stronger than before. Rightfully upset and skeptical we went to get a second opinion at the Sylvester Cancer Institute. We did multiple scans to see the whole body to make sure that if there was anything, we would see it. Unfortunately there was more tumors in the lungs and the bump on his hip turned out to be one of the tumors as well. Not only are they bigger, but we were told that they are also inoperable. Needless to say we were shocked and extremely scared. We were referred by multiple people to get in contact with the doctors at MD Anderson Cancer Institute  in Houston, Texas. We emailed them two days ago with all his paperwork, scans, and medical history hoping they could do something to help us. They responded the next day. As of this morning (9/13/19) Ethan, my sister Nicole, and mother Anette are all flying to Texas to get him the care he not only needs, but deserves. I will eventually join them once an action plan is made. We make no compromises so we will do whatever it takes to cure Ethan. That being said, My mother, sister, and I will be taking leaves from work meaning that we can no longer financially support Ethan's treatment and are relying on all the extremely kind people who have helped and are still continuing to help us today.  All the money donated will be used towards the next chapter of Ethan's fight, whatever that entails. My family and I have put our faith in god and all our amazing friends and families. This is extremely urgent so please spread this as much as you possibly can.  Love you all and God bless.
