Help Erika Anne

"This is my little girl, her name is Erika Anne. When I was 20 weeks pregnant I was told there was a problem. The Dr then went on to tell me that my babies left lung had a mass on it which had pushed her heart to the right side of her chest. I was told that here in the state of Nevada we do not have specialists who deal with these "CCAMS" as they are called and I would need to go to UCSF in California so Drs with more experience with these CCAMS could do an ultrasound and let me know how serious the situation was. At my first appointment they told me that the mass was fairly big and I would need to come there every other week for an ultrasound and on the weeks I wasn't in San Francisco I would need to be seen locally to keep an eye on the mass. Every other week my parents and I would get up at 3 am Monday morning and drive to San Francisco for my appointments and then we would turn around and drive back to Reno. In the beginning the mass grew a little bit, then it stayed the same, but then it began to shrink! I was grateful to find out at 30 weeks I no longer needed to come to UCSF for ultrasounds, because they no longer saw the mass!! There are no words to explain how I felt when they told me it was gone. To be on the safe side they told me to continue with my local ultrasounds, however I could space them out to every two weeks. As we went to leave our nurse told me I needed to call and make Erika an appointment when she was about 3 months old, for a routine check up to ensure the mass was not giving her any problems. I continued with my local ultrasounds with no sign of the mass! It was a miracle. I was so ready to meet my little miracle, whom was due on Christmas Day. But at 36 weeks and 6 days my Dr. called to inform me I had preeclampsia and needed to come to the hospital to be induced. I was ready to meet my little girl. And on December 5th 2014 at 6:00 am I gave birth to a very healthy 6lbs 3oz beautiful little girl. As far as anyone could tell she was a normal healthy little girl. When she turned 3 months old, I called UCSF to make an appointment, they told me they wanted to push the appointment back until she turned 6 months, and when I asked why they told me because they anticipated that she was going to need surgery. I was heartbroken and confused. But knew that we needed to make sure she was ok. We traveled to San Francisco, where she had her appointment at UCSF on June 5th 2015, and that is when they told us they see the mass, and it needed to be removed before the cold and flu season. If left alone she could be prone to chronic Pneumonia. Or the mass could possibly become cancerous later in life. Which makes not having the surgery an option. The surgery is to remove her lower lobe of her left lung. It is going to cost around $200,000. I am lucky enough to have health insurance but the continuing costs have made it overwhelming. My parents and I will be traveling to San Francisco in the middle of July where Erika will have surgery and need 3 to 5 days to recover at UCSF. Please keep my little girl in your thoughts, prayers and your hearts.
