Help For The Flinch Family

Hi, my name is Kelly Reed & I would like to share with you the story of my son in-law ERIK FLINCH from Bentonville, AR. I could've said Erik is my ex son-n-law, but to all of us we are family & I love him deeply & will always consider him "my" son-n-law.
Erik had been seeing his doctor for over 5 months. having terrible back pain, extreme weight loss (almost 50lb), stomach pain, unable to keep food down and other symptoms before they landed on the correct diagnoses of Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. As you can guess, this has been devastating!! The diagnosis came in March of this year (2015), shortly before Erik's 43rd birthday on March 31st. The diagnoses has been heart crushing to his wonderful family and his 2 stunningly beautiful daughters (my granddaughters) Madison 14yrs old & Kirsten who is 11.
Madison & Kirsten are so beautiful, Erik always says "I made them that way!!" Erik is a single father and raises the girls fulltime after his divorce almost 5yrs ago. Erik was NOT going to let anything come between he and his girls. He NEVER has & they have always come first. Erik never does for himself, he has always worked overtime and beyond to make sure the girls have what they need & everything they want. Doing all of this with a light in his eyes and a smile on his face, while he would be in old tee-shirt and old faded jeans, always, making sure his girls were beautiful. Erik and his girls do everything together, they hunted, they fished, they watched the Ar. Naturals play ball and loved to cook together. They tell me, "dad makes the BEST homemade chicken wings!!"
Erik is self employed owning his own company. He started learning and mastering his craft of CUSTOM HOUSE FRAMING 23yrs ago. This is his second love. Erik loves to talk about his work and craftsmanship. Erik has built many beautiful homes all over NWA from small to 10,000sf., but sadly Erik has not been able to work for several months now. Providing and maintaining for his precious girls and household has become extremely difficult.
Pancreatic cancer is extremely Painful and few days are good. Erik has been in & out of the hospital and continues to Fight for his LIFE and LIFE with his girls. Erik fights hard and wishes to see all mile stones with his beautiful girls, not just the blessed ones he has already shared in their lives, like their births, first steps, first words (DADDY) and I LOVE YOU DADDY, but also, first dates, first cars, graduations, weddings, that father & daughter dance and grand babies! We all pray he doesn't have to miss any of these.
As long as I have been a part of Erik & girls lives, when married to my step daughter & now divorced, Erik has never asked for anything or complained of anything! Erik has always shared his beautiful girls with Grandpa and I for day trips, nights, weekends, vacations and Holidays. Erik has always welcomed us to be a part of the girls and his life. Even now, in his fight for life and for time.
Erik is a gracious man! I, Granny Kelly knows though, that this kind, quiet, gracious man will continue to never ask for anything, all the while his household bills, household expenses & expenses for travel are piling up.
Erik was excepted for a promising trial in Bethesda, Maryland. Every week & half he makes the round trip from Bentonville, Ar. to Maryland. We feel blessed he was excepted in this trial and are praying for better days and time with this young man: my precious, handsome, wonderful, father to my grandchildren and son in-law that I am so PROUD & Lucky to have. These trips are expensive and physically draining on his body.
Most of Erik's days are spent in bed resting and trying to build strength. With that strength, this past weekend Erik shaved, put on a jacket and we took the wonderful tender photos I posted here to share with you. These were taken before his oldest daughter Madison's first Homecoming dance and with sister Kirsten . Madison is a freshman and daddy is so proud! As you can see, Erik is all smiles!! Madison went to enjoy her big evening that night and Erik home to rest.
I hope to raise money for Erik my son-n-law and my granddaughter's Madison & Kirsten Flinch. All money will immediately go directly to the family to maintain household bills, expenses and travel expenses. Anything no matter how small will be gratefully appreciated and a blessing to help support this young family.
Pancreatic cancer in stage 4 (Erik's cancer) is the worst kind and stage to be in, so we WELCOME PRAYERS & any support. I as a grandparent thank you from the bottom of my heart for anything you can do.

May God Bless You & your Families!!
