“This is Tyler. I could simply say he is in a fight for his life and lost his Dad last summer but Tyler is special. And special people inspire us. They galvanize normal everyday people into an army of love. I met him three weeks ago. It was his first time at school in two months after struggles most of us will never experience. He's a witty humorous boy with many interests but when his mom mentioned he had topped the double digits, he flashed a heart stopping smile and I was added to his tribe. As his Mom tousled his hair and complained he needed a haircut I looked into his wise sparkling blue eyes and knew why Tyler is so special to his class and one of my son’s closest friends. He's rare. Blessing him will bless you more no matter how hard you try.
Tyler's mom has to give him 24 hour care. She is the sole provider of her family but has been forced to take FMLA to protect Tyler's very vulnerable immune system.”
-Elizabeth Allen, a mother who's son is a close friend of Tyler’s at Erie Elementary.
As a New Year begins, please consider helping this 4th grade boy from Erie, CO have a chance for a Happy New Year indeed. Tyler has fought a rare and growing Vascular Lymphatic Malformation, Cavernous Lymphangioma, all of his young life. He is currently undergoing chemotherapy with a goal of shrinking the now inoperable tumor which has taken over his body. Tyler’s Mom, Melissa, who has spent her life helping others as a nurse, is fighting fiercely for her son, and it has been a year of unimaginable tragedy as she suddenly found herself not only fighting Tyler’s aggressive tumor, but fighting as a new widow. Tragedy struck this family with a heavy blow as Melissa lost her helpmate and husband suddenly over the summer of 2016. Melissa also has three other children to care for as the family grieves their loss and fights for Tyler’s future. They desperately need our help and I can personally vouch for this family, their urgent need, and the true deservedness of this hard working Mom as she struggles to meet immediate financial and medical needs. Melissa is unable to continue working during this time as Tyler requires around the clock care while undergoing chemotherapy. Additionally, as Tyler turns a corner and the chemotherapy hopefully does its job, there may be a need for out of state medical treatment to help Tyler surgically. This means additional travel expenses and care for the three other kids in the family as well as continued absence from work for Melissa. She is determined, with his team of doctors, to give him the best chance she can. This wonderful child and his family need whatever help you can give. Please consider joining “Team Tyler” and growing an army of love that, when multiplied, could really impact Tyler’s future and his Mom’s ability to keep the wheels turning for her family. I ask you all as you consider your ability to help, to leave your name and a message for this awesome family, who not only needs financial assistance, but loads of love and encouragement. Please share as you give of financial resources, prayers, good thoughts, or whatever genuine love from your heart that you wish to lavish on this precious family. Every bit helps!
“We love our family. It's our life, our great treasure, our love…God bless you all.”
