When this GoFundMe was first created, I had just been taken into ICE custody. At the time, our friends and family were urgently fighting to prevent my deportation and bring me home to my wife.

Unfortunately, despite every effort that was made, I was deported. My wife and I were separated for eight painful months before we were finally able to reunite in Spain.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who donated, shared our story, contacted representatives, and stood beside us during the most frightening and uncertain period of our lives. Your support helped us survive a situation we never imagined we would face.

Our circumstances have changed, but the challenges have not ended.

We are no longer fighting for me to remain in the United States. We are now trying to rebuild our lives together in Spain and navigate an entirely new immigration process. I currently have residency in Spain, but I am not legally permitted to work under my present status.

In less than six months, I will need to apply for my next residency. Once it is approved, I should finally receive permission to work legally. Until then, our ability to earn a stable income remains extremely limited.

Starting over in another country has been difficult and expensive. We had to leave behind the lives and careers we spent years building, and we are now trying to establish ourselves again from the ground up. At the same time, we continue to face rent, daily living expenses, immigration fees, and legal costs.

The donations made through this GoFundMe have already helped us more than we can express. Continued support will help us remain stable while we work through the next stage of the residency process and fight to ensure that we are never forced apart again.
