Hi everyone! As many of you who are visiting this page may know, we've been working on starting up Enlightened Brewing Company for the last several years. After a lot of do-it-yourself wrangling of incorporation, obtaining licenses and permits, leasing a space, and building the brewery and cold storage, we finally started selling beer in February! We started up on a shoestring budget, and I had to quit my job as a bartender and change industries altogether just to conform with state law and obtain the state permit for the brewery.
Enlightened Brewing is now a partnership between myself (Tommy) and James Larson, who obtained his masters degree in brewing and distilling from Heriot-Watt university in Scotland and completed an internship in operations at Bell's Brewing Company.
It's not confirmed (but probable) that we're the smallest commerical brewery in operation in the Midwest; truly a neighborhood operation. That being said, I'm still working a "day job" and all the money from sales of our beer goes straight back into the brewery to make the best beer possible right here in the city of Milwaukee. And to cover unexpected expenses.
We need some help.
Thanks to all of your help already (and some help from family) we were able to purchase and install a new control box that doubles our output in a given amount of time, allowing us to run our mash and boil kettle at the same time.
Our goal is to raise more money than we need for the box alone, because we're ready to grow! Any money that is raised above and beyond the cost of the control box is going to be used to purchase another fleet of kegs and we'll also be building several more fermentation vessels. That will allow us to get more beer out of our door and into an establishment near you!
We know that traditionally, people offer several types of incentives for a crowdfunding donation, but the fact is, we don't have anything to offer but beer! We want to get our beer into more spots in Milwaukee, but we can't do that until we grow. We don't have t-shirts or bottle openers or any swag. Yet. Just know that your dollar goes a long way for us, and it's all being used for the sake of beer and not promotion. Thank you SO much in advance for your support!
