Emmaline Maureen Whitcher, born January 13th, 2025, passed away peacefully, held and surrounded by loved ones on February 12th, 2025, at UMass Memorial Hospital. Though her time with us was far too short, she filled our lives with so much love and joy. Her big blue eyes sparkled with innocence and wonder, and her sweet smile brightened every room. Emmy adored her big brother and cherished every moment they shared, especially as he showed her toys, booped her nose, helped with feeds and baths, and showered her with love and affection.

Emmy was a fighter from the very beginning—strong and resilient, with a spirit that will never be forgotten. She loved snuggling with her parents and was happy to snuggle family whenever they visited. She had an undeniable love for her favorite lovey pacifier, “Miss Moo,” baths, and tummy time. No matter what we were doing, she was always happy to be there.

While devastated by her loss, we are grateful to forever carry Emmy’s beautiful memory in our hearts, finding comfort in the love and happiness she was able to experience every moment of her life.

Emmy is survived by her big brother, Christian James Whitcher; her parents, Morgann and Trevor Whitcher; and her loving grandparents, four aunts, two uncles, and four cousins, along with much extended family.

Since Emmy’s passing in February our life has been destroyed. We not only lost our beautiful baby girl but also suffered a missed miscarriage only four short months later leading to sepsis and two surgeries taking place in August. We have lost our income, our family home where we poured our heart and soul into and raised our children. We have lost everything. We are trying to completely start from scratch. Trying desperately to cling on to anything we have of Emmy’s and hope for momentous that we frankly just cannot afford when we do not have anything. I have started working at a preschool full time and am completely draining myself trying to just have enough for the bare minimum. We have lost everything. Christian is in therapy. I am in therapy. But it isn’t enough. We need to get back on our feet.
