My name is Emma Wade. I recently finished undergraduate studies, with a degree in Cultural Anthropology and Italian Language and Literature from Smith College in Northampton MA. This past winter and spring I worked as a puppeteer intern with the Peacemaker Project, based out of Free Columbia, a small art school in Columbia County, NY. I had the chance to build puppets, study gesture, and collaborate in production. Participating in the Peacemaker Project was the first time I focused the majority of my time with a performing group. I loved this experience for so many reasons and it has left me wanting to pursue a more technical study in acting.
I will be turning 23 on August 27th 2014, and my birthday challenge is to move to New York City and take a three-month course in the Michael Chekov acting method. The cost of the course is $3550.00. My goal is to raise this amount by the beginning of the course, which starts on September 22. Can we make it happen?! Given that NYC living expenses are high and that I have never lived in the Big Apple, securing the funds for the course as I enter the city is paramount. If you are able to help me with this challenge I will be forever grateful.
* This challenge is dedicated to all the teachers, peers, friends and family that have inspired and encouraged me over the years.
