Emily & Tracy's Fire Recovery Fund
Donation protected
Tammy and Christopher, friends of Emily and Tracy, are setting up this fundraising site in Emily's and Tracy's name. This seemed like a sensible option for those of us that want to help.
Emily and Tracy lost their apartment home to a fire on Christmas Eve. At 12:30a that morning their old refrigerator caught fire. Tracy briefly tried to put it out but all they could do was get out. Emily called 911. By the time the fire department came, flames were jumping out their kitchen window. Fire fighters put the fire out within about 20 minutes.
Tracy, Emily, the upstairs neighbors and their dog thankfully all got out safely. Tracy was treated for minor smoke inhalation and has a minor burn on his hand.
Most of their kitchen was incinerated. Many of their possessions in other rooms were lost to water and smoke damage. Some valuables in the den and living room may be undamaged, but they don't know yet. The property, built around 1900, will require major renovation.
While renters insurance is covering and arranging for all their emergency short-term housing and living expenses, it may not cover everything. The money raised here will be used as an emergency backup fund for the uncertainty that comes with this kind of personal disaster.
Thank you everyone for the huge outpouring of concern, love and offers of help to Emily and Tracy.
