Meet Elsie! She graced the world with her presence on August 11, 2014. Elsie's parents, Lauren and Kyle, are to the moon and back in love with their sweet miracle. She was born with Congenital Heart Disease (tetralogy of fallot with pulmonary atresia and pulmonary hypertension). In other words, Elsie's heart formed abnormally as the pulmonary artery (which supplies blood to the lungs) never formed. Her lungs also formed abnormally, and she has two cysts (medical term is CCAM's) on her right lung. At only 20 months old, Elsie has already had 6 heart procedures (3 open heart surgeries and 3 heart catherizations). 

Last week, Lauren and Kyle found out devastating news.  Doctors can no longer help Elsie, and that she will eventually deteriorate and enter heart failure. At that time, she will need a heart and double lung transplant. There is no estimated time limit or prognosis. Her condition is very complicated and very severe. Lauren and Kyle are seeking second opinions from other institutions that specialize in this. (Including California, Massachusetts, Denver & Georgia) As a parent, and dear friend to Elsie's parents I can't imagine what they are going through or how they stay so strong. They are simply amazing!!!

I'm a friend of Lauren & Kyle's and i'm setting up this campaign in hopes that their focus can remain on Elsie and getting her the BEST care possible, while hopefully eleviating some of the financial burden and stress that will come with Elsie's journey! Having to travel to meet with other doctors, appointments, procedures, travel expenses, these things will add up so fast (not to mention being out of work to do so) and may not be covered by insurance. Several people have asked how they can help, and there are several ways!  Positive vibes and prayers are always welcome!
