Hi Family & Friends!

About 3 years ago, my dad was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Pulmonary Fibrosis is a disease that causes scarring in a patient’s lungs, making it hard to breathe and do every day activities (walking, climbing stairs, even putting shoes on is hard at times). Since his diagnosis, my dad has been fearlessly fighting (as he has his whole life) to come out on top of this challenge. We have seen dozens of doctors and nurses both at The Ohio State University and the Cleveland Clinic. After countless doctor & hospital visits, treatment sessions and trips to Cleveland Clinic it has been determined that a double lung transplant is what is necessary to make things right again. I am beyond excited to announce that in the last 10 days my dad has been APPROVED and PUT ON the wait list for a lung transplant. As you can imagine this time is both extremely exciting and terrifying for our family.

I know many of you have had the chance to meet my parents and if you have, you know they are some of the hardest working people you will ever meet. About 16 years ago, our family came to the United States with a dream to make a better life for ourselves and be the best residents (and soon to be citizens!) of this country that we can be. At one point, my dad worked three jobs at once, biking miles and miles in the summer heat and blizzards to get to work. During this time he would work 100+ hours per week, while my mom worked 50+ hours per week to make sure that we had a better life. They have never been ones to seek help from others and have always been right there in others times of need.
As you can imagine this surgery (even though it will be partially covered by insurance) is going to create a great financial burden for my family. Post-operation, the medicine alone will cost almost $2,000/month for the first 3 months and over $1,000/month for the next 4-12 months. Additionally, during the first 45-60 days my dad will have to stay the hospital being monitored 24/7 by doctors and nurses to make sure that his body is good to go. He will not be able to work and will go on disability for anywhere from 6 months to a year after the surgery. My parents have never been ones to ask for help. However, in this time of great need, I feel compelled to reach out to our friends, family and their networks for any help you can provide and kind words to keep my parents fighting in the months leading up to the surgery.

My GOAL is to raise $10,000! ANY MONEY that is raised in this GoFundMe will go directly towards my dad’s medication, stay at the hospital and post-operation related expenses.  I know that many of you may not be able to help, but if you can, I ask you to please consider sharing this on your social networks so we can reach as many people as possible. Hola Familia y Amigos!

Hace unos años mi papa fue dianosticado de Fibrosis Pulmonar. Esta enfermedad resulta en la formacion de cicatrices en los pulmones del paciente. Estas cicatrices hacen que actividades normales se hagan muy dificiles. Desde su diagnostico, mi papa a peleado una batalla muy dura con mucha fortaleza y valor como lo ha hecho toda su vida cuando una dificultad se presenta. Hemos visto a dozenas de doctores y enfermeras en el Hospital de la Universidad de Ohio State y la Cleveland Clinic aqui en Ohio. Despues de muchas visitas, examenes y sesiones de terapia ,los doctors tomaron la  decision de  que lo mejor para la salud de mi papa es que tenga un transplante de los dos pulmones. Estoy muy feliz por anunciar que despues de mucho tiempo mi papa fue ACEPTADO Y PUESTO EN LA LISTA PARA TRANSPLANTE DE PULMONES. Como se pueden imaginar este tiempo es un tiempo de mucha esperanza y muchos nervios para nuestra familia.

Yo se que muchos de ustedes han tenido la oportunidad de conocer a mis padres, y saben que los dos son  los mas trabajadores y luchadores en el mundo. Hace 16 años, nuestra familia vino a Los Estados Unidos con un sueño de hacer una mejor vida para nosotros y para ser los mejores residentes (y pronto ser ciudadanos!) de este pais. Hubieron tiempos donde mi papa tuvo que trabajar mas de 100 horas en tres diferentes trabajos, montando su bicicleta en el calor del verano y la nieve. A la misma vez mi mama trabaja mas de 50 horas a veces para asegurar que nunca me falte nada. Nunca han sido personas que piden ayuda y siempre han sido los primeros de ayudar a otros.Como te puedes imaginar esta cirugia algunos gastos  son cubiertos por el seguro medico,y el resto tendremos que ver nosotros . La medicina despues de la operaction cuesta $2,000 dolares por mes por los primeros tres meses, del cuarto mes hasta el mes 12 los costos de medicacion van a ser mas de $1,000 por mes. Durante los primeros 45 a 60 dias mi papa se va a tener que quedar en el hospital para los doctores puedan asegurar que el pulmon va a estar bien en su cuerpo. Mis padres nunca han sido personas de pedir ayuda a otros, durante este tiempo de necesidad grande yo siento la responsabilidad de pedir a nuestros amigos, familia y sus redes sociales que nos ayuden tocar a la mayor cantidad de personas posibles.
