Hi there.

We are Dixie Fried Theatre and we are looking for funding to enable a production of Elise to go up to Edinburgh for a four week run at the Pleasance Courtyard.  This is a production in association with the Bristol Spotlights, and is an incredible opportunity for the team and cast to showcase their work in one of the Fringe's most prestigious venues for a long period of time.

Elise is a dramatised true account of the life and untimely suicide of forgotten Beat poet Elise Cowen, exploring the hedonistic drug-fuelled culture of the Beatnik’s. The play hinges on events following her suicide, drawing together interviews and extracts from the eighty-three poems left unburnt by her parents, piecing together the true story of a woman shrouded in Ginsberg’s shadow, set to a thrilling soundtrack of recordings, jive music and raucous jazz.

The Edinburgh Fringe provides an invaluable platform for our cast and creative team and will be an incredible experience for everyone involved and for audiences alike. However, we desperately need funding in order to make the project a reality as the festival is notoriously expensive. The money we raise will contribute to venue hire (Bristol previews and Edinburgh), set/props/costume, marketing, Fringe registration and other costs.

Our cost breakdown is as such:
Edinburgh Venue: £2300
Previews: £200
Pleasance Marketing: £600
Fringe Registration: £400
Marketing: £200
Props/Set/Costume: £180
PRS/PLI: £150
TOTAL: £4030

Obviously this is a large amount of money and we hope to be able to fundraise all of it so that we can have the best possible chance of putting on a corking production at the Fringe!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story and hope that you can dig deep to make our dreams a reality and ensure that we can take the best show possible.

Many thanks and best wishes,

Dixie Fried Theatre
