Support for Family of Elijah

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Sylita. I have five sons, 3 of which have been diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). My sons are aged 15, 12, 11, 7, and 5. Elijah (15), Noah (11), and Sean (7) are diagnosed. DMD is a progressive genetic disorder that causes the weakening of the muscles. Elijah and Noah have been in wheelchairs since Summer 2021. We currently live in a 3-bedroom apartment that is not made to be accessible. We currently live in a 3-bedroom apartment that is not made to be accessible. I also have a van, but it is not the type to fit a wheelchair, and my electrical system went out in it two days ago. Everything has been so hard and I'm at a loss for what to do.

My children encouraged me to try GoFundMe because I am the type who always likes to figure it out independently and not burden others. I am beginning to realize that sometimes pride has to be put to the side because we can't always do everything on our own. It's important to me that my children are able to be comfortable and live full lives despite their condition. I will apply any funds raised toward the purchase of a wheelchair-accessible van that can fit us all. Any excess will be saved and used to purchase a home that is accessible and has the necessary accommodations.

Any donation, advice, prayers, or guidance would help tremendously. Thank you for taking the time to read this far.

This GoFundMe has been updated to now support the financial burden that multiple hospital stays have placed on my family. We will focus on a wheelchair van later, as this is a more immediate need. (See updates.)
